reflective journal - Design studio epsilon

The primary design objective within this journal and my project: Stack + Scaffold - a model for modular housing can be summarised as a vision for architecture that builds thriving communities. The aim is to include key aspects that benefit social experiences such as biophilic architecture, user participation, and building materials and technologies that suit the local conditions of the site. Within my design process in Design Studio Epsilon and the conceptualization of Stack + Scaffold - a model for modular housing, my objective was simple: create architecture that facilitates community building, social interaction, and meaningful connections. This was facilitated through the creation of micro-communities and the adaptability of impermanent architecture through the use of a kit of parts with modular architecture components that create an affordance for growth over time, changes to lifestyle and attacks the local housing affordability crisis.
