TONGJI INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION FESTIVAL 2019

In 2019, I was invited to compete as part of a team of first year undergraduate design students, representing Australia in an annual construction competition, Tongji International Construction Festival. Using the given materials, sheets of polypropylene, plastic nuts and bolts and zip ties, we were tasked to design a small pavilion to the given brief in 3 days. Our design centred around parametric architecture, utilising grasshopper and tensile strength to form a structure that bent to form an S-shaped path. This opportunity taught many key lessons in collaborative design in our team of seven, and the material properties and their bending limits.
